I hear this question almost every day from patients who come in to our education center. My dad has diabetes but I do not. Neither of our educators have diabetes. Our previous educator did have diabetes. All of them are excellent at their jobs. I know it is nice to talk to someone who seems similar, but the truth is that diabetes is unique in everyone. The point is to find an educator who understands diabetes, whether they have it or not.
