It really is mind blowing to ask people what type of diabetes they have and they don't know. Being aware of your illness is the number one step to being a responsible patient. To hear people say things like, "Well, I don't take insulin, so I must not have the 'bad' kind." Or, "Well, I'm on insulin so I guess I have type 2." That is not the defining factor of type 1 or type 2. This should be the first thing a person learns when they are diagnosed with diabetes, and it should be the one question they should be able to answer.

Be a responsible patient, it not only benefits any health care provider you may see, but it will also be a huge benefit to yourself and your well being.

I learn so much about Diabetes.
It's like a pamphlet... but fun... and with more nuts.
Too bad due to all those kids with Peanut-allergy, your comic would be forbidden in schools.

I didn't know that! I don't have diabetes, but like with your last strip, I've heard many times the whole "don't eat so much sugar, you're going to get diabetes". I know people that do have diabetes, though...I should ask them what kind.

It is weird to think people who have an illness and don't know anything about it. A person only has one body :/ .
